PREGNANCY MASSAGE AT

HONOLULU MASSAGE STUDIO

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as backaches, stiff neck, leg cramps, headaches and edema (or swelling). In addition, massage reduces stress on weight-bearing joints, encourages blood and lymph circulation, helps to relax nervous tension-which aids in better sleep-and can help relieve depression or anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

BENEFITS OF PRENATAL MASSAGE

PREGNANCY MASSAGE AT HONOLULU MASSAGE STUDIO

Massage has been used for thousands of years to relieve stress, relax the muscles, and improve general health - and that remains true during pregnancy. While the essential benefits of massage therapy remain the same, prenatal massage requires different techniques to ensure the safety of both the mother and the baby. With a few precautions, and a clear line of communication between the mother and her therapist, there is little to no danger to either the mother or the child. But it is incredibly important for the prospective client to ask the massage therapist if they have specific training in prenatal massage.

BEFORE YOUR MASSAGE

Because every pregnancy is different, we require that all of our pregnant guests consult a physician prior to scheduling a Prenatal Massage.

BEFORE YOUR PREGNANCY MASSAGE SESSION

Women with normal, low-risk pregnancies can benefit greatly from the variety of massage techniques However, women in high-risk pregnancies should consult their doctor or midwife before beginning one of our massage programs. If at any time during the prenatal massage you experience discomfort, tell your therapist immediately.
